Short Biography:

Judith Franzak is a Professor in the Department of Doctoral Studies in Literacy at Salisbury University. A former middle school and high school English teacher, Judi has a deep commitment to fostering enthusiasm for engaging with texts for all learners.  Her research addresses questions of pedagogy and policy with a particular focus on adolescent literacy learners.  Her publications include articles in English Education, The Teaching of Research in English, The Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy, and Children’s Literature in Education. Influential experiences in Judi’s professional background include a year she spent working with middle school students and teachers Norway as a Fulbright Scholar and her work in schools serving rural populations.  She is has no idea what her favorite book is, but she is clear on what she likes best about her job: supporting doctoral students throughout the academic journey.
