Writers on the Shore Presents:

A Reading with Kirk Nesset, Author of Mr. Agreeable

Tuesday, March 9, 2010
8 pm
Montgomery Room in the Commons

Kirk Nesset will be reading on Tuesday, March 9, at 8 pm in the Commons as part of the Department of English Writers on the Shore series. Nesset is the author of five books (two of them forthcoming), and his fiction, poetry, essays, and translations have appeared in prominent journals such as The New England Review, The Kenyon Review, and The Paris Review. Commenting on Nesset’s most recent book of short stories, Mr. Agreeable, Mississippi writer (and winner of the William Faulkner award) Barry Hannah relates, “Nesset is attuned to the fine-edged songs of the mundane, alert to the explosions ready to burst even in the dull routes where our lives lead. All this without forcing the drama or cheating the literal crawl of time. I wish I could manage this. Hurrah!”

Nesset discusses some of his more recent publications as well as his approach to writing here:

and for those of you who listen to podcasts, here's another brief but good interview:
