Professor Young Receives Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) Individual Artist Award in Poetry for 2011

P. Ivan Young, Faculty in the English Department, recently received a Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC) Individual Artist Award in Poetry for 2011 in the amount of $3,000. As the announcement states, “the jurors reviewed all work submitted on the basis of artistic excellence” and recommended him for this award, which will fund his continued artistic endeavors. One of only three prizes awarded to a poet on the eastern shore, Young's is one of ten awards made in this amount for this year and one of 24 made throughout the state. His award comes with a certificate and recognition at the annual reception honoring individual artist awardees.
