Students who wish to be certified to teach elementary school (Grades 1-6 & Middle) complete a rigorous program which meets state and national standards.

Students should be aware of the following requirements:

  1. All courses applied to the major must be completed with grades of C or better

  2. A checklist GPA of 2.75 is required prior to the start of Junior-Year Professional Program courses

  3. Students must complete a minor in order to graduate; the minor should be declared by January of sophomore year

  4. The PRAXIS I Pre-Professional Skills Test (PPST) must be completed by January of Sophomore Year.  Students are encouraged to take this test as early as possible.

Prior to enrolling in Junior-Year Professional Program Courses, students must have all of the following coursework completed with grades of C or better:
