The Master of Education (M. Ed.) programs are designed for P-12 educators and leaders and higher education professional who seek advanced degrees. Blending flexibility and personal attention, the M.Ed. programs provide opportunities to customize programs of study through in-person, hybrid, and online instruction.
There are four unique opportunities for M. Ed. candidates:
The M.Ed. track in Post-Secondary Education and the Post Baccalaureate Certificate in Higher Education are designed for emerging and established professionals in higher education and adult education settings. Our graduates are leaders in student affairs, housing, judicial affairs, academic affairs, financial aid, admissions, athletics, and community education.
The M.Ed. Reading Specialist Program is an advanced licensure program, which is designed to prepare reading educators in instructional and leadership capacities in K-12 schools. Individuals who complete the M.Ed. Reading Specialist Program are eligible for Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) reading specialist certification. Applicants must have or be qualified for initial teaching licensure.
The M.Ed. Education Leadership Program is an advanced licensure program designed to prepare educational leaders. Individuals who complete the M.Ed. Education Leadership Program are eligible for the MSDE Administrator I Certificate. Applicants must have initial teaching licensure and two years of teaching experience before beginning coursework.
We also offer Outdoor Education Leadership courses. This is less traditional than the classroom experience students are used to. This program combines discovery and adventure working with the environment where students can receive job-ready certifications and learn how to expand horizons.
