INSTRUCTIONS

Please review the eligibility and criteria for this award.  You can only nominate one person from one category. 

ELIGIBILITY

STUDENT (undergraduate/graduate):  An undergraduate student, enrolled in at least 12 credit hours or graduate student enrolled in at least 6 credit hours and has completed at least 1year at the University.  Student must have at least a 2.5 cumulative GPA.  The student is sensitive to diversity issues and takes action to promote a diverse educational environment in or out of the classroom.

NON-EXEMPT (Secretarial, Skilled, Craft, and Service/Maintenance):  A staff member who has been employed at least 2 years who demonstrates a willingness to assist and actively seeks out experiences which encourage diversity and interaction with a diverse workforce.  Through his/her actions, this person reflects a commitment to diversity. 

PROFESSIONAL STAFF:  A staff member below a Department Head/Director level who has been employed at least 3 years.  This person seeks out experiences which increase personal knowledge in areas of diversity, is sensitive to the different needs of a diverse environment and promotes awareness and understanding of others. 

EXECUTIVE/ADMINISTRATOR:  A person at the Department Head Level or above employed at least 5 years who directs attention to diversity through goal setting, professional development, staff selection, etc.  This person seeks out programs and services which increase his or her own level of awareness and that of his or her staff.  They should create and promote programs that support the educational benefits of diversity. 

FACULTY/ LIBRARIAN (2): A full-time faculty member, who has been employed for at least 3 years who promotes diversity through course content and pedagogy.  Is innovated in how they support the educational needs of diverse learners.  He or she promotes the educational benefits of diversity in and out of the classroom experience.  

The Office of Diversity staff and others who have the primary responsibility of promoting   diversity on campus are not eligible for these awards.

CRITERIA 

  1. Nomination Form – must be completed and signed
  1. Nomination Letter – shall state the category for which the nominee is being nominated and describe how he or she fulfills exemplary performance in the category. (A typed document, not to exceed 1000 words)
