SOWK 653-701 SUBST ABUSE ASSESS & INTERV Provides a comprehensive introduction to the recognition, assessment and intervention with persons who abuse substances. Attention is directed to the interactive effects of substance abuse on abusers, on other persons in the abusers' lives, and on society. Other topics explored in the course will include: models of chemical dependency, the dually-diagnosed client; and the comparison and contrast of selected models of intervention. Prerequisite: Concentration status or permission of department. Three hours per week.
