ECED 422-001 DISCVRY THRU INTRDISC STUDIES Developmentally appropriated practices and current research in early childhood curricula areas (including math, social studies and science) are emphasized through inquiry learning and the arts to engage all children, ages 4-6. Techniques in classroom management include the responsive classroom. Field experience required. Prerequisite: Admission to Professional Teacher Education Program, ECED 215. Three hours per week.
ELED 317-001 CREATIVE ARTS INSTRUCTION Provides a basic arts knowledge base along with reasons and techniques for incorporating the arts throughout the elementary and middle-school curriculum. Emphasizes infusing the arts in teaching, an alternative approach to the traditional view of the arts solely as enjoyable “add-ons.” Prerequisite: Admission to Professional Teacher Education Program. Co-requisite: ELED 309. Three hours per week.
