April 4-6
Special Event: Read Green: Childrens & Young Adult Literature Festival
Every spring, SU holds its annual Read Green: Childrens and Young Adult Literature Festival. Prominent authors and illustrators of books for young people will be on campus, as will the winners of the Eastern Shore Reading Councils Young Author Contest. One of the highlights of the festival is the awarding of the national distinction for books that promote environmental
stewardship, the Green Earth Book Awards. The awards are given in five categories: picture book, childrens fiction, young adult fiction, nonfiction for children and nonfiction for young adults. Award winners are announced in early February. As part of the festival, nationally acclaimed writers and illustrators share their craft. A connected exhibit of art related to literature and the environment is on display at the Ward Museum, featuring art from Green Earth Book Award honorees. For more information call 410-543-6030.
