Wednesday, February 20
Lecture: Linking Landscapes & Water Quality With Dr. Grace Brush, Professor of Geography & Environmental Engineering, Johns Hopkins University
Holloway Hall, Great Hall, 7 p.m.
Award-winning professor Brush is well known for her work on the pre-and-post- Colonial ecology of the Chesapeake Bay. Her path-breaking studies over four decades have provided the basis for much of our early understanding of how and when the forests surrounding the Bay were first cleared, and how resultant shifts in sediment loads and water chemistry changed the Bay and its ecosystem. Her lecture focuses on the links between human-induced landscape changes and water quality in the Bay. Sponsored by the Department of Environmental Studies, the Fulton School of Liberal Arts, and the Henson School of Science and Technology. Admission is free and the public is invited.
