Making an Appointment:
-
To schedule an initial consultation session, call Student Counseling
Services at (410) 543-6070.
-
Students in crisis during office hours may be seen on a walk-in basis.

After your initial session, you and your counselor will determine
subsequent meeting times.
What to Expect:
Confidentiality:
All client contacts and information obtained in the
course of treatment is confidential. No information will
be released without written authorization from the
client, except in the rare cases of imminent danger or
as required by law when there is a suspicion of child
abuse, elder abuse or a court order.
While information will not be released outside of the
Student Counseling Services without your written permission, as
professionals, the staff may confer with each other in order to improve
the quality of our services. If you have questions about the nature of
confidentiality, please ask the counselor.
First Appointment:
Generally, you will be seen by a counselor within a week of your call for
an intake session; all emergency calls are taken and assessed
immediately. In this session, the counselor will help you explore your
problems and arrive at a course of action. The counselor you are
assigned to meet with on a regular basis may or may not be the counselor
you see during the first appointment.
Subsequent Appointments:
Student Counseling Services offers counseling on a time-limited basis.
Typically, students are eligible to receive 1 to 8 sessions of
individual counseling per semester. Providing time-limited services
enables our staff to remain available to meet with new students (without
a long wait list) while providing therapy to on-going clients. Currently
there are no session limits on students who are receiving group therapy.
