Commuter Assistant Program
Who They Are:
Commuter Assistants are experienced Salisbury University students who know
the University inside and out, excel academically, and are highly involved in
the campus community.
What They Do:
The goal of the Commuter Assistant Program is to assist in the transition of
incoming commuter students to Salisbury University by connecting them to a
network of Commuter Assistants. Commuter Assistants help incoming students with
any questions they may have about the college experience, encourage student
engagement in clubs and organizations, and even accompany their incoming
students to a variety of University-sponsored events.
FAQ:
Q: How are Commuter Assistants (CAs) and incoming students matched?
A: Whenever possible, we match CAs and incoming students based on major,
interests and common activities.
Q: What is the time commitment for incoming students?
A: Incoming students are able to commit as much (or as little) time as they
would like.
Q: What can I expect from my Commuter Assistant?
A: Incoming students can expect to be contacted by the CAs at least once a
week with information on upcoming events and student involvement opportunities.
Your CA may contact you by phone, e-mail, text or on social networking Web
sites. He or she will also invite you to share a meal at the Commons and to
attend events on campus.
Q: What are the benefits of the program?
A: As a participating student, you will have access to a knowledgeable upper
class student who can serve as a resource for any questions you may have about
Salisbury University and college life. You will get to know your fellow commuter
students. You will also have someone to accompany you as you get to know the
campus community and all that’s going on at our campus. Lastly, you will enjoy
special programming for the Commuter Assistant group throughout your first
semester at SU!
