Guidelines for Response papers

  • Length: 1-2 pages
  • Identify in a concise manner the topic or issue at hand
(You may focus on one or two issues that interested you.)
  • Reflect upon the topic. You need not summarize; you can assume the reader has read the readings and attended the class.

Some Prompts

(These are just questions to get you thinking. Feel free to develop your reflection in other ways that you think might be valuable to you.)

  • What did you think about the reading and the class discussion?
  • Are there specific points that you agree or disagree with? Why?
  • Did the readings and/or class discussion effect, in any way, your ideas of civic engagement, government, or politics?
  • Did you learn anything new about yourself? Will what you have learned change your behavior in the future?
