Requirements

The requirements for the 2008 - 2009 Presidential Citizen Scholar Program include the following:

1. Fall 2008 Citizen Workshop: Fundamental Experience Seminar
          Take this one-credit class:

         IDIS 280-004, Class # 4544, Wednesday,
         4:30 - 5:20pm, in Henson Hall Room 101

                               OR

         IDIS 280-005, Class # 5797, Thursday,
         4:30 - 5:20pm, in Henson Hall Room 101  

               Syllabus - this is being developed
               Response Paper Guidelines

2. One Academic Experience (A One-Credit Course)
                         Presidential Citizen Scholars should take one of the            
                         Civic Engagement Seminars-in Fall 2008 or Spring 2009
                         NOTE:  Please talk with us if you would like to explore        other academic experiences that might fulfill this requirement.   

3.  Three Events/Lectures
         Attend 1 off campus civic activity and write a reflection, and
                     1 on campus lecture and write a reflection, and also
                     1 PACE discussion session with a civic leader
                                  and write a reflection.

         NOTE:  Please talk with us to be sure the events/lectures you
                     attend will fulfill this requirement.   

4. Two Volunteer Experiences
         Volunteer to work 3 - 4 hrs for a community organization.
         Fill out a volunteer experience form on the organization and write a
         reflective essay on your experience.

5.  Write a three-page paper reflecting on your experiences in this
         program.

6.  Attend two meetings during the Spring 2009 semester.
