Previous one- and three-credit PACE Civic Engagement Seminars have included the following:

Spring 2007
A one-credit  seminar entitled, "Citizen Workshop II: Capstone Seminar" was taught by Dr. Francis Kane (Philosophy), Dr. Creston Long (History) and Mrs. Mary Kane (Nursing). This class was mandatory for 2005 - 2007 Presidential Citizen Scholars who completed the program in
May 2007.

Fall 2006      
A one-credit seminar entitled "College Student Voting Seminar" was taught by Dr. Harry Basehart in the Political Science Department (IDIS 280-003). 
 
A one-credit seminar entitled "Growth and Development in Ocean City" was taught by Dr. Haven Simmons in the Communication and Theater Arts Department (IDIS-007).
   
A one-credit  seminar entitled, "Citizen Workshop II: Capstone Seminar" was taught by Dr. Francis Kane (Philosophy Department) IDIS 280-004.  This class was mandatory for 2005 - 2007 Presidential Citizen Scholars who graduated in December 2006.    

Spring 2006:  
A one-credit seminar entitled, "Learning in Community: Town-Gown
Relations in Salisbury and Beyond" was taught by Dr. Richard England (Bellavance Honor's Program)

A one-credit seminar entitled, "Maryland Votes - 2006" was taught by Dr. Harry Basehart (Political Science Department)

A one-credit seminar entitled, "Local-State Environmental Policies" was taught by Dr. Judith Stribling (Biological Sciences)

A one-credit seminar entitled, "Development Issues in Wicomico County" was taught by Dr. Joan Maloof (Biological Sciences)

A one-credit  eminar entitled, "Citizen Workshop II: Capstone Seminar" was taught by Dr. Harry Basehart (Political Science) and Dr. Francis Kane (Philosophy).  This class was mandatory for 2005 - 2007 Presidential Citizen Scholars who graduated in May or December 2006.

Fall 2005:
A one-credit seminar entitled, "College Student Voting Seminar" was taught by Dr. Harry Basehart  (Political Science)

A one-credit seminar entitled, "4 to 2 Zoning Controversy" was taught by Dr. Haven Simmons (Communication and Theater Arts)

A one-credit  eminar entitled, "Citizen Workshop I: Fundamental Experience" was taught by Dr. Harry Basehart (Political Science) and Dr. Francis Kane (Philosophy).
This class was mandatory for all 2005 - 2007 Presidential Citizen Scholars.

Spring 2005:
A three-credit seminar entitled, "Influencing State Policy Project: Teaching Social Work Students to Analyze Policy and to Advocate for Policy Change" was taught by Dr. James Forte (Social Work)

A one-credit seminar entitled, "Development for Whom? Land Use Conflict on the Delmarva Peninsula" was taught by Dr. Margaret Foraker (Geography and Geosciences). The class examined the issues surrounding development on the Delmarva Peninsula.

Another one-credit seminar entitled, "Citizen Education in the Information Age" was taught by Dr. Creston Long (History). The class looked at how voters gather and process political information.

Another one-credit seminar entitled, "Issues at the End of Life: Ethics and Public Awareness" was taught by Mary Kane (Nursing) and Dr. Francis Kane (Co-Director of PACE and Philosophy Professor). The class looked at ethical issues that cluster around end of life decisions.

Fall 2004:
A one-credit seminar on the "Presidential Debates" was held during the Fall 2004 semester. This was taught by Dr. Elizabeth Curtin and Dr. Thomas Moriarty (English)

A one-credit seminar on "College Student Voting" was also held during the Fall 2004 semester. This was taught by Dr. Harry Basehart (Co-Director of PACE and Political Science Professor).

Spring 2004
A three-credit seminar explored, "Agricultural Transformation in Wicomico County from 1880 to the Present" was taught by Dr. Michael Lewis (History).

Spring 2002
A three-credit seminar explored "Issues Related to Immigration on the Delmarva Peninsula" was taught by Dr. Katherine Zak (English) and Amy Liebman (Consultant).
