2009 Spring Commencement

Salisbury University conferred some 1,435 degrees at its 83rd year Spring Commencement Thursday, May 21, at the Wicomico Youth & Civic Center, representing the largest graduating class in the University’s history. Joining this semester’s graduates were 2009 President’s Distinguished Community Leadership Award winners Henry H. Hanna, III (individual award), who has continued a family tradition of leadership in business, public service and education, and MAC, Inc. (organizational award), which promotes the well-being of an increasingly aging population on the Lower Eastern Shore. Graduates receiving degrees included those from SU satellite social work programs at Chesapeake College, Cecil College and the University System of Maryland at Hagerstown, as well as the first cohort from SU’s elementary education program at Chesapeake College.
