Interdisciplinary Studies Interview Questions

Below are sample interview questions for your field. In preparing for your interview, you should also review typical interdisciplinary studiesinterview questions asked of all majors, thoroughly research the organization, dress professionally, and visit the interviewing skills section of the SU Career Center’s website. Below are sample Interdisciplinary Studies interview questions.

-How have your education and work experience prepared you for this position?
-Why did you choose the courses you took?
-What do you consider to be your greatest strengths and weaknesses?
-What do you really want to do in life?
-Why did you choose your college — and are you happy with the choice?
-How do you think your favorite professor would describe you? Your least favorite professor?
-What motivates you to go the extra mile on a project or job?
-What was your most memorable classroom experience?
-How has your college experience prepared you for your career?
-Tell me about a time when you demonstrated leadership ability.
-What did you do in your last job to contribute toward a teamwork environment? Be specific.
-Describe a time when you had to resolve a conflict with a coworker.
-Describe a project that you led. What did you do to keep it on track?
-Tell me about a time when you had to go above and beyond the call of duty to get the job done.
-Describe a time when you made a decision you knew would be unpopular.
-Describe a work-related situation in which you were faced with problems or stresses, which tested your coping skills. What did you do?
-Give and example of one of your weaknesses and where it hindered you in making a decision.
-Tell me about yourself. How would you describe yourself?
-How do you handle yourself under pressure?
-Why are you qualified for this job?
-Why do you want to work for this organization? What do you know about us?
-What are your short- and long-range goals? Do you have plans for future education?
-How do you plan to achieve your career goals?
-Describe your style of supervising others.
-How would your last supervisor describe you?
-What did you enjoy most or least about your last job?
-What have you learned in your education that you could bring to this job?
-What do you expect from your supervisor?
-What factors did you consider in choosing your major?
-What three things are most important to you in a position?
-What kind of work do you want to do?
-Tell me about a project that you initiated.
-What is your GPA? How do you feel about it? Does it reflect your ability?
-What was the most useful criticism you ever received and who was it from?
-Give an example of a problem you have solved and the process you used to solve the problem.
-Describe a situation where you had a conflict with another individual and how you dealt with it.
-What are your team-player qualities? Give examples.
