Art Internships

  • Industrial Light and Magic-Division of Lucas Digital LTD. The Jedi Academy Program is a summer internship program.
  • The Metropolitan Museum of Art various internships for college and graduate students interested in careers in art museums. Based upon their academic training and interests, as well as the availability of projects, interns work in one of the Metropolitan's departments—curatorial, education, conservation, administration, or library. Most projects require a strong knowledge of art history. Applicants of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.
  • MoMA. The Museum of Modern Art .The Museum’s internship program provides college juniors and seniors, recent graduates, graduate students, and beginning museum professionals with practical work experience and in-depth training in the museum profession. Working under the supervision of one of the Museum’s professional staff, interns contribute to timely projects, gain insight into the functions of individual departments, and learn about the Museum’s various collections, exhibitions, and programs for visitors. The Museum offers fall, spring, summer, and twelve-month internships. Fall and spring internships require a minimum commitment of two days per week (one day must be Tuesday) and are unpaid. Summer and twelve-month are full-time and provide a stipend.

History, Anthropology & Museum Internships

  • Alexandria Archaeology- Internship opportunities (unpaid) are available on a limited basis throughout the year, to students who will receive credit through their colleges. Students usually come from departments of Anthropology, American Studies, Historic Preservation, History, Museum Studies and Museum Education.
  • Business Executives for National Security (BENS), Accepts interns from all backgrounds and degree programs. Strong writing and research skills are a must, as is an interest in national security issues.
  • Internships and Fellowships in Public History

  • Montshire Museum of Science-Prerequisites include an interest in science and a desire to work with people. Familiarity with natural and physical sciences, communications and education are useful. The 15 week, full-time internship program is held during all seasons of the year.

  • Naval Historical Center Internship Program Offers a variety of internships in the history field.
  • Philadelphia Museum of Art-The Museum Studies Internship Program offers internships each summer to qualified students who have completed at least their sophomore year of college by the spring.
  • Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies (SCEMS)-The mission of the Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies (SCEMS) is to interpret the collective knowledge of the Smithsonian and serve as a gateway to the Institution's education resources. Through research, publishing, and staff development programs for the education and museum communities, the Center promotes the understanding and use of museums.
  • The Washington Center for Internships-Full-time internships in DC for a semester or summer or quarter term. It is up to the intern's school to award academic credit.
  • Washington Internship-Students select internships according to their areas of interest, such as government, the media and national institutions in a variety of fields. federal agencies, etc.

Internships in the Non-Profit Arena

  • Americans for the Arts. The Internship Program offers undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to investigate and participate in the operations of the nation’s leading nonprofit for advancing the arts in America. Internship positions are available on a part-time basis for the winter/spring and fall terms and on a full-time basis for summer. Fall and spring interns receive a meal and travel reimbursement, and summer interns receive a stipend.
  • The American Youth Foundation Internships-Committed to developing leadership, service learning and personal growth in both our participants and staff. Our organization serves youth and adults with a variety of programs designed to empower diverse populations. We seek to inspire individuals to discover the best within themselves. We believe in providing a learning environment where interns can gain experience in education, challenge themselves and explore their own leadership style.

  • International Service for Human Rights-SHR internships will involve being a member of a multicultural team responsible for monitoring a variety of United Nations human rights meetings, such as the treaty bodies and working groups and in particular, the annual sessions of the Commission on Human Rights and its Sub-Commission

  • NARAL-For over thirty years, NARAL has been the political arm of the pro-choice movement and a strong advocate of reproductive freedom and choice.
  • National Assoc. of Schools of Public Affairs- Offers valuable information on how to find the ideal internship in public service, helpful hints on obtaining an internship, as well as additional internship resources.
  • Prejudice Institute-Assist at all levels in on-going projects and/or in the initiation of new projects. The research is basically social psychological or sociological in orientation and applied in perspective. Interns will have the opportunity to learn about research design, interviewing and questionnaire construction as well as data analysis. We also do archival research and content analyses and maintain extensive files on ethno violence and discrimination.
  • Presidential Classroom -At Presidential Classroom, participants observe the federal government at work, witness the development of public policy and explore the roles of citizens, lawmakers, experts, associations and businesses in the world's most successful democracy. Presidential Classroom takes students behind the scenes of our nation's capital for seminars and discussions featuring members of Congress, Presidential appointees, journalists and other Washington insiders and names in the news.
  • Project Vote Smart-The National Internship Program. Students from across the nation, as well as international students seeking to learn more about the American political system, come to Philipsburg, Montana to help American citizens educate themselves about elected officials and candidates.
  • Public Service Internship-The Everett Public Service Internship Program. In the summer of 2002, about 200 Interns will use their knowledge and skills in 58 organizations dedicated to improving the world. Interns will work diligently with dedicated mentors to gain first-hand experience on the front lines of public service. ALL applicants must have at least completed two semesters of college education and should be current undergraduate or graduate students.
