JOB SUMMARY: A Marketing Intern supports the development and execution of the marketing strategy. The intern collects all necessary input and data from all available sources to carry out assigned duties to ensure departmental and company goals are met. This person is also responsible for bringing creativity and vision to the department, and suggests new ways to improve our strategies to meet internal and external customer demands.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The primary duties of the Marketing Intern are to help the Marketing Department with a wide variety of day-to-day tasks and long-term projects, all with little or no supervision. See the following list of duties for detail. Help implement marketing strategies in accordance with corporate vision. Creating advertisements, press releases, brochures, literature. Develop and/or update website content to keep it current. Serve as a back up to our Marketing Coordinator. Social media contributor. Fulfill business card requests. Contract and collaborate with designer as necessary to produce high level graphic output. Keep inventory of marketing materials, including sales collateral and promotional items, reordering as needed. Request pricing from vendors for inventory items or new requests, placing orders as needed and monitoring the delivery and quality of items. Obtain and distribute sales leads. Assist in holding sales staff accountable for following through. Create and suggest new and innovative ways to get our message to customers. Compile, organize, and mail our company newsletters Event planning, such as trade shows, open houses, or meetings. May include booth/guest arrangements, and employee travel to and from events. Provide status reports to Director as deadlines arrive. Perform other duties as requested or assigned.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITY: The Marketing Intern must have a wide range of administrative and communication skills as well as practical business skills. Excellent communication skills in person, on the phone, and in writing, including copywriting. Original writing samples will be requested. Ability to organize, monitor, and track numerous events and projects Ability to logically solve problems with little supervision Strong attention to detail Self confidence Initiative, leadership, and managerial skills Comfortable with change and working in unknown situations Discretion in handling and communicating sensitive information Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment A positive and professional attitude and a keen sense of urgency to get the job done Exceptional customer service abilities Knowledge of graphic design is a plus (preferred Adobe Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop) Knowledge of office programs required (including Word, Excel, and Outlook)
JOB QUALIFICATIONS: In pursuit of or holding a Bachelors degree in Marketing, Communications, or related area. Ability to show proven results of successful completion after being assigned a project Experience with graphic design, programs, and ad/slogan creation. Please provide examples of past work.
