JOB SUMMARY: This is an Entry level, paid summer internship with a normal, 40 hour work week. With direct oversight and supervision, performs a variety of software engineering, Dev Ops on emerging technologies. Help NJVC innovate and deliver IT services, cloud computing, Data Center technologies, and Cyber security. We foster a culture of innovative thinkers, willing to learn, collaborate, and solve technical challenges with creativity and persistence. Specific challenges include, but not limited to: IT Services, automation, scalability, big data, data analytics & visualization, next-gen UI on the web, and mobile technologies.
The duration of this internship will be approximately 3 months over the course of the summer. The internship is extensible and convertible to a full time position based on availability, performance, suitability.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: This is an Entry level position in the IT services business unit, innovative technology research and development labs. With direct oversight and supervision performs a variety of software and systems engineering duties designed to expand knowledge of the company and various technologies.
Prototype development and testing
Design, Develop native and web technology based software
Refactor and optimize existing software libraries and applications
Integrate COTS products, services via open standards
Ruthlessly automate application use cases
Automate engineering framework impacting software lifecycle, testing, packaging, deployment, and delivery
Design and develop monitoring and alerting mechanisms for operational infrastructure, cloud frameworks, big data systems
Implement NoSQL frameworks for massive data collection, crunching, curating, mining, searching, and analytics reporting
Evaluation and testing of emerging technologies for verifying applicability, capability, and performance
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Ideal candidate will be actively pursuing an undergraduate or master’s degree in a CS related field.
Good analytical and communication skills
Pursuing Bachelors or Master’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent
Able to work as part of a team and also individually with minimal supervision.
