Date inactive: 9/1/2013

The Lower Shore Land Trust is interested in hosting a stipend volunteer (see below for details) for the Chesapeake Conservation Corps 2013 – 2014 program. The Chesapeake Conservation Corps program is an excellent opportunity to get involved in conservation on the lower shore, network with other conservation professionals, learn new skills and build your resume!
The LSLT holds over 100 conservation easements on 18,000 acres of land, most of which are agricultural and forestry lands. These lands are located in some of the most biologically diverse areas of the Mid-Atlantic region, and the position provides a unique opportunity to learn about a range of conservation tools designed to maintain and enhance the conservation values of working landscapes and natural habitat.
•       Lead the coordination and monitoring of conservation easements with volunteer support and staff assistance
•       Work with staff to identify and engage new volunteers for monitoring of conservation easements
•       Engage landowners in the best practices to maintain, manage, protect, and enhance their working landscapes
•       Identify potential sites for restoration projects
•       Develop monthly educational E-news updates for landowners and LSLT supporters about stewardship and conservation practices
The Chesapeake Bay Trust is proud to announce solicitations for volunteers for the 2013-14 Chesapeake Conservation Corps, a program that provides service-learning opportunities and green job training for young people through environmental and energy conservation projects. This initiative, supported by the Trust, Constellation Energy, and the state of Maryland, pairs young adults with organizations that provide hands-on environmental, leadership, and technical training opportunities for a one-year term of service.

The Chesapeake Bay Trust anticipates placing around 25 Corps Volunteers in Host Organizations throughout Maryland for one year terms of service, with service to begin August 27, 2013. Individuals will be between the ages of 18 and 25 years at the time of enrollment. Corps Volunteers will receive stipends of $15,500 per year plus health insurance, administered by the Trust.
