COMPENSATION:  Unpaid Internship. We will be glad to provide any information, reports or
evaluations required for you to obtain college credit for this internship and/or  provide a letter
of recommendation for candidates that complete their assigned responsibilities professionally and successfully.

DESCRIPTION:
Utilize artistic and technical skills to create images for use in print and online marketing
collateral and to supplement Wicomico County Recreation, Parks & Tourism’s image library. This internship will consist of field and office work that is required to run a photography business such as editing, managing an image filing system and scheduling shoots.

Wicomico County reserves the right to use all photographs taken during this internship.

Responsibilities will include:

Take photos for department use including, but not limited to:

  • Recreation programs and special events
  • Parks
  • Civic Center shows and special events (receptions, corporate meetings, etc.
  • Tourism events and tourist attractions (for use in Visitor’s Guide, online, etc.)
  • Develop procedures for sorting, organizing and filing photos on the marketing department’s server.
  • Assist the marketing staff with photography during special events and peak program times.
  • Develop and manage a photo contest that is open to the public.
  • Other duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS/EXPERIENCE:

  • Current student or recent graduate at a college, institute or university in an art or
    photography program. Videography skills a plus, but not required.
  • Demonstrate interest in pursuing a degree in photography or related field. Emphasis in
    marketing or communications field a plus.
  • Ability to work independently and complete assigned tasks within identified timeframes.
  • Excellent computer skills including photo editing software (PhotoShop) and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Applicants must own a digital camera. Your own computer and photo editing software is
    useful, but not required.
  • A valid driver’s license and transportation.
  • Availability to work some nights and weekends.
