Description Of Internship:Epilepsy Foundation The Epilepsy Foundation was established in 1967 as the national voluntary agency solely dedicated to the welfare of the 3 million people with epilepsy in the U.S. and their families. The organization works to ensure that people with seizures are able to participate in all life experiences; and to prevent, control and cure epilepsy through research, education, advocacy and services. In addition to programs conducted at the national level, epilepsy clients throughout the United States are served by local Epilepsy Foundation offices in nearly 100 communities. Special Events Below is a description of some of the duties for this internship: -Drafting letters for potential sponsors, VIPs, media partners, and registrants -Draft proposals for potential Walk sponsors -Assisting with fulfillment of sponsorship packages -Communicating with sponsors, media partners and team captains to answer questions and provide support for their involvement with the Walk -Draft marketing pieces for the promotion of the Walk -Draft and or update web material for the Walk -Managing and executing mass mailings -Providing support at special events -Attend internal Walk meetings -Attend and support external Walk meetings as needed -Draft agendas and correspondence for Walk meetings -Assist in training volunteers -Communicating with and recruiting volunteers -Assist in volunteer assignments and schedules -Draft marketing and promotional materials for our annual Gala -Communicate with our Gala committee -Solicit auction items for our annual Gala -Assist with logistics and planning of the annual Gala This internship is unpaid. Credit may be obtained for students who meet the minimum number of required hours of 15 hours per week, and perform successfully.
Qualifications:Candidate Qualities If you have a high level of energy and focus and can take a project from A to Z, then we are looking for you. The Development department for the Epilepsy Foundation has the need for interns that can assist with special events for the Epilepsy Foundation (to include our annual Gala and National Walk for Epilepsy). The ideal candidate will have at least 15 hours a week that they can devote to working in our Landover office. We are willing to consider any level college student, but ideally would prefer at least a second year student. The internship is not paid, however there are many opportunities to receive excellent practical experience. The candidate needs to have: -Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) -Strong research skills -Good writing skills -Good proofreading skills -Highly organized -Detail oriented
