Description Of Internship: Apply Now for a Summer Internship at Wolf Trap! "One of the Best Places to Intern: 2009" - Bloomberg BusinessWeek Wolf Trap's Internship Program provides project-based training and experience to approximately 40 interns annually. Interns become integral members of the staff working side-by-side with professionals producing, promoting, and administering all aspects of the performing arts. Summer internships are offered in the following departments: Communications and Marketing - Graphic Design, Marketing, Advertising Sales/Group Sales, Web Communications, Publications, Public Relations, and Photography Education Planning and Initiatives Development - Grants Management/Foundation Relations, Donor Relations, Major Gifts, Annual Fund, Special Events Program and Production Human Resources Accounting Wolf Trap Opera Company - Directing, Administrative, Stage Management, Technical Theater, Scenic/Prop Painting, and Costuming Ticket Service Information Systems Summer internships are paid, full time (40-plus hours per week), and 12 weeks in duration. Housing is the responsibility of the student, although guidance in this matter is available. Wolf Trap Interns are required to have a reliable mode of transportation as the Wolf Trap Foundation is not accessible by public transit. Diversity Initiatives: Wolf Trap administers the Josie A. Bass Career Development Program and the Los Padres Internship Program, which are designed to provide intern experience in arts administration for qualified African-American and Hispanic/Latino students to facilitate their entry into the profession of arts management.
Qualifications: Must have a reliable mode of transportation as Wolf Trap is not accessible by public transit. (Transportation may be provided for Josie Bass and Los Padres interns.) Housing is not provided, but Wolf Trap will help participants find affordable housing. (Housing may be provided for Josie Bass and Los Padres interns.) Undergraduate students who have completed a minimum of one year of study, graduate students, recent graduates, and career-changers currently enrolled in a degree program are encouraged to apply. Interns should possess enthusiasm, strong writing and organizational skills and proficient computer skills Must meet INS I-9 eligibility regulations
Application Procedures: To apply, you must email the following materials to firstname.lastname@example.org no later than March 1, 2013: - A resume. - A cover letter with a brief personal statement and an outline of career goals, specification of which departmental internship is desired (positions offered for the Summer 2013 season are listed on our website) and whether youd like to participate in diversity components for African American students or Hispanic/Latino students if applicable. - Two contrasting writing samples (no more than three pages in length each) are required when applying for all but the following positions: Technical, Scenic Painting, Costuming, Stage Management, Accounting, Graphic Design, Information Systems, and Photography. These may be excerpts from papers you have previously written for classes, or something you have written for publication or for extra-curricular activities. You do not need to write something specifically for the application, please simply submit a sample of something you have written in the past. - Two letters of recommendation (references may submit recommendation letters directly to email@example.com. Your name must be included in the email subject line. Your references may also email pdf versions of their recommendation letters to you to be submitted with your application.
