Job Description: Salisbury University Housing and Residence Life is seeking a well-rounded individual to fill the position of Housing Operations Assistant. This positions reports to the Associate Director for Housing and Residence Life. A Bachelor’s degree with an enrollment in a Master’s degree program is required for this graduate student position. Our department serves the needs of over 2,000 students living in 11 residence halls.
The Housing Operations Assistant is a live-out graduate student position. Primary job duties will include assisting in the daily operations of Housing and Residence Life. Also will entail: supervision of university student employees; overseeing maintenance/housekeeping concerns of residence halls; working collaboratively with professional live-in staff and resident assistants for building management; organizing and scheduling the moving of campus furniture; managing work order requests; working in conjunction with the offices of Physical Plant, Gull Card, Information Technology, Conference Services, and others as needed to support a vibrant residential community; and on-call responsibilities as needed throughout the academic year and during the summer. The Housing Operations Assistant aids the Associate Director and Assistant Director of Housing Assignments with the summer conference program included but not limited to: supervision of student conference assistants; coordinating the accommodations of visiting groups; and managing summer desk operations. Individual must have some technology background and have some knowledge and experience with customer service. Prior experience in Housing and Residence life is not required.
The position requires a one-year contract, which serves through the summer months and winter term. This contract is renewable for a second year upon performance review early in the spring semester. The position includes a tuition waiver (up to 18 credits a year) and a 10-month stipend during the fall and spring semesters. During the fall and spring semesters this is a 20 hour/week position paid through the stipend. Certain weeks throughout each semester may require up to 30 compensated hours. Summer and winter term work is a 40 hour/week position paid by an hourly wage.
Start date for the Housing Operations Assistant is May 16, 2013. Summer work prior to this start date is available but not required.
