GA Job Description:
Graduate Assistant for Student Conduct Office of Student Affairs Salisbury University Purpose: The Graduate Assistant for Student Conduct is a member of the Office of Student Affairs and is responsible for assisting the Assistant Dean of Students with the administration of the Code of Conduct. Responsibilities: Serve as a conduct hearing officer and conduct investigations as appropriate. Counsel individual students (including complainants and respondents) regarding their rights and responsibilities and other issues related to the student conduct process and the Code of Conduct. Assist with the development, implementation and monitoring of developmentally appropriate educational sanctions. Develop programs to educate the college community about behavioral expectations and the campus conduct process. Assist with the planning, development, and implementation of training programs for the conduct board and appeal board. Assist with the development and maintenance of appropriate manuals, and forms, for the conduct system. Participate in divisional activities, including Division-wide meetings each semester (the dates of which may be before the start of the graduate assistant contract) and serve on a Student Affairs Task Force (optional). Conduct research as directed by the Assistant Dean of Students regarding best practices in student development and education and/or intervention strategies. Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean and Assistant Dean of Students. Classification/Hours: 20 hours per week between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.; most hours are flexible Benefits: The Graduate Assistant will receive tuition waiver and graduate stipend depending on annual tuition costs. Immediate Supervisor and Colleagues: Reports to the Assistant Dean of Students and works with all members of the Office of Student Affairs.   Selection Criteria: The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to work well with others, possess excellent written and oral communication skills and have an interest in working with students. Candidate must be flexible and willing to work some evening and weekend hours. Prior experience with judicial and honor code is a preferred.
