Philosophy Interview Questions

Below are sample interview questions for your field. In preparing for your interview, you should also review typical philosophyinterview questions asked of all majors, thoroughly research the organization, dress professionally, and visit the interviewing skills section of the SU Career Center’s website. -What do you do to help students read difficult texts / master formal logic / something else that’s hard?
-Tell us about a difficult or challenging teaching experience, and how you dealt with it.
-Why did you decide to apply to this job?
-Can you work under pressure?
-Could you describe a difficult problem and how you dealt with it?
-Why do you want to work here?
-What were some of the things you did not like about your last job?
-What do you consider your most significant weaknesses?
-What are your biggest accomplishments?
-How do you accept criticism?
-Do you prefer working with others or alone?
-How do you get along with different types of people?
-Can you give me an example of a project that didn’t work out well?
-What are some of the things you and your supervisor have disagreed on?
-Can you tell me about yourself?
-Why did you leave your last job?
-Do you know anything about our company?
-What did you like about your last job?
-What would you like to be doing 5 years from now?
-Why did you choose to study philosophy?
-Name three strengths that you possess.
-Tell us about your experience in this field. What was challenging? What was your contribution?
-Talk about your research or writing skills in relation to school, work, or extracurricular activities.
-What motivates you?
-What is the most difficult situation you have faced?
-What are some of the things that bother you?
-What do you consider your most significant strengths?
-How do you balance your reliance on facts versus intuition?
-Describe a time where you made a major sacrifice to achieve an important goal.
-What interests you the most about philosophy?
-What 2-3 things are the most important to you in a job? Why?
