Chemistry Interview Questions

Below are sample interview questions for your field. -What experiences have you had related to research?
-Aside from classroom texts and experience, what journals or professional articles are you currently reading for professional development?
-Give me an example of when you used good judgment and logic to solve a problem.
-There are plenty of times where you will be on a strict deadline to submit proposals for grant money or to complete an experiment. How would you describe your time management and organization skills?
-Please discuss your familiarity with lab techniques/instrumentation from lab courses or internships
-Can you describe a point in time where your work as a chemist was criticized? How did you handle the situation?
-What are the advantages of soapy detergents over soapless detergents?
-Which is the best conductor of electricity? Why?
-Out of all the different areas of science, what was your inspiration to pursue chemistry?
-Please give a brief explanation of the following laws in chemistry: Kick’s Law, Rittinger’s Law, Bond’s Law.
-Why are explosions a risk in flour mills? What stops bags of flour exploding in the kitchen?
-Why do we blow on soup to cool it down?
-How many molecules are there in a glass of water?
-How does a glow-stick work?
-Why don’t fish freeze?
-What is the concentration of water?
-Why does iron rust and how can rusting be stopped?
-How does blood maintain its pH?
-What factors affect the stability of a drug?"
