Student
Research Assistantship Faculty members in economics and
geography are currently looking for two highly motivated and dependable
students to assist with research activities as part of a National
Science Foundation (NSF) grant. The research assistant position is
available
for fall 2008, spring 2009 and a portion of summer 2009 with the
possibility of continuance in fall 2009 semester. Position
responsibilities include assistance with
literature reviews, managing and analyzing spatial data, and preparing
maps and graphics for fieldwork. In addition, one student will be
trained to use global positioning
systems (GPS) and geographic information systems (GIS) for summer 2009
spatial data collection. A second student will be primarily responsible
for data organization and
analysis. The students will be expected to assist with four to five
weeks of fieldwork in the Brazilian Amazon in the summer of 2009.
Fieldwork will include database entry,
spatial data collection and other tasks. The Ouro Preto do Oeste,
Rondônia region of the Amazon is a poor, tropical agricultural area that
has few amenities. Travel is
difficult and students must be vaccinated for tropical diseases prior to
summer travel. Interested students should enjoy travel,
fieldwork in challenging situations, and exhibit positive and flexible
attitudes. Portuguese and/or Spanish language skills are advantageous.
Students in geography and economics
with experience with data analysis, GPS or data entry will be given
first priority; however, students in any field exhibiting competency in
research will be considered. Preference will be given to students
interested in attending graduate school and/or considering research as a
career. Students are not expected to have extensive research experience,
as the position is designed to be a learning experience. If interested,

Van

Assistant
for MHEC Math ITQ Grant A Salisbury University student
assistant is needed to assist with implementation of the MHEC Math ITQ
Grant which is a partnership between Salisbury University and the
Somerset and Worcester County Public School Systems.
The successful applicant will help the project director in the
Department of Mathematics and Computer Science with supporting paper
work and serve as a liaison between the project director and the
University Research Services Office, where much of the paper work is
processed.
In addition, the successful applicant will assist the project evaluator
with data entry and project reporting functions, including assisting in
the writing and editing of reports.
The successful applicant should have good communications skills, both
oral and written, be detail oriented, and be proficient with Microsoft
Word.
Previous experience with Excel, Minitab, or SPSS are also desirable.
The pay is $10 per hour and an average of 10 hours per week is expected,
although hours will vary throughout the year. Applicants
should send a resume, brief statement of interest and qualifications for
the job, and names of three references to Michael Bardzell in the
Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. Please ensure all

Catering
is currently looking for a Banquet Captain. The position is very
flexible and can work around school schedules as it is a predominantly
nighttime and weekend job. The position pays $10 per hour and every
semester that is served the pay increases 25 cents. The position
requires: 1 year of front of house restaurant, banquet or other
hospitality environment. 2 years experience preferred. Weekend and night
availability. At least 3 weekends a month minimum. Salisbury
University Student. Duties include: Delivering goods and services as
dictated by work order. Open or close operations independently. Lead
staff through events. Training new employees. Evaluating events and
employees. Set up and break down of catered events all over campus.

Traffic
Control Monitors University Police Pay Per Hour:
$6.60 Job Location: In SU parking lots Hours Per
Week: 4 to 16 Job Description: Control traffic into parking
lots by checking parking passes on vehicles. Issues temporary parking
passes to visitors. This job requires being outside in all types of
weather. How To Apply: Pickup a application from
University Police Dispatch which is located in the Old University Police
Building (In front of Maggs Gym).
Officials
for both flag football and soccer for Fall 2008. The hours will vary but
will be Monday through Thursday between 6:00-11:00 pm. The rate of pay
will be $6.55 per hour with a maximum of 10 hours per week. Prefer
people with previous officiating experience or playing experience.

Checkout Person -This applicant will be check out/in equipment that student will need
for the class assignments. -This entrant can be from any discipline

Distant
Learning Technician Facilitator. -This applicant will help the professor of the class with the operation
of the equipment. This person will aid them when they need to operate
different pieces of equipment. This person must be very dependable and
very attentive with what is going on in class. Status: Junior or Senior.

Building
Manager. The Guerrieri University Center is seeking qualified
applicants for a Building Manager for evening hours. Building Managers
are responsible for the over site of the Guerrieri University Center
from 4:30pm – 12:00am Monday – Friday and 8:00am – 12:00am Saturday and
12:00pm – 12:00am on Sundays. Candidates should be available to work 15
– 20 hours a week. Starting pay for this position is $8.00/hr. Building
Managers report directly to the Guerrieri University Center Facilities
Coordinator and support the Facilities Coordinator with the day-to-day
operations of the building after normal business hours. Building
Managers are to supervise the building during the evening and on
weekends and ensure that all GUC policies and procedures are enforced
and that the mission of the University Center and Salisbury University
are observed. Additionally Building Managers are required to ensure that
all meeting rooms are set up properly for reservations after 5:00pm, on
weekends, and that the set ups are completed for the following morning.
Occasionally Building Managers will be given special assignments and
tasks by the Facilities Coordinator. In the absence of the Facilities
Coordinator and Desk Services Coordinator the Building Manager is
responsible for supervision of the Information Desk and Attendants and
provide direction to the housekeeping staff. Qualifications:- Full time

Assistant- Commons Dining Hall; The Commons is hiring for the
fall semester for the position of student assistant in the marketplace
food court. Come earn money in a fun work atmosphere!! The Commons
offers 20 hours per week with a starting pay of $7.00per hour.

Writing Center. University Writing Center Consultant.
Application Procedure: We are now accepting applications. Successful
candidates would enroll in a Spring 2008 training course and begin
working at the Writing Center in Fall 2008. Visit the Writing Center to

under “Join Our Staff.” The Writing Center director will screen
applications and offer interviews to selected job candidates. Rate
of Pay: $8 per hour. Part-time. The number of students who work as
peer consultants during any one semester varies depending upon funding,
the needs of the Center, and the number of peer consultants available.
The number of hours any one student works is negotiated each semester;
the normal work load is 6-12 hours per week. Students are paid by the
hour for their work in the Center and for any staff development meetings
held at the Center. Position Description: Consultants will work
one-on-one with student writers, providing relevant feedback about the
student’s text and facilitating the student’s growth as a writer.
Requirements: Consultants must possess strong writing and interpersonal
skills. They will need to be attentive listeners who can work
collaboratively with others and can develop rapport quickly with student
writers. This position requires flexibility and versatility, since
clients who visit the Center have a wide range of writing abilities,
learning styles, and personality traits. Applicants must have
successfully completed at least one writing-intensive course at
Salisbury University. Students from all majors are welcome to apply.
Those who are hired as consultants must complete required training and
all related training assignments. If you are offered the job as
writing consultant, you must register for a three-credit training class
(ENGL 494), which you must complete to the satisfaction of the
University Writing Center director before you start tutoring in the
