Teaching English Overseas-Needed a college degree

  • What Are the Requirements to Teach English Abroad?-a summarizing article from US Today.

    •  At least a bachelor’s degree.

    • Some require a medical exam and/or a criminal background check.

    • Many countries verify degrees and require English teachers to be native speakers.

    • Most jobs require a TESOL, TEFL, CELTA or DELTA certification-Typically one can be obtained in 1 month.  Always look for an accredited program.  There will be a cost to you.

  • Central European Teaching Program- a teacher recruitment organization. Since 1991 we have been working to provide native-speaking English teachers to public and parochial in Hungary and Romania. The single largest provider of teachers to Hungarian public schools.
  • CIEE-offers paid teaching positions in seven countries (Chile, China, Dominican Republic, South Korea, Spain, Thailand, and Vietnam) for university graduates looking to teach English abroad.  These people are world famous and very well regarded
  •  Cultural Embrace offers paid teaching opportunities for graduates around the world, including China.  they are a part of Academic Programs International.  SU has had a written affiliation agreement with this organization for many years  

  • Dave's ESL Cafe. Dave Sperling's ESL Cafe, is a popular resource for the ESL community and is well known among ESL professionals. Look under employment for teaching jobs by country,
  • English Opens Doors Program in Chile-Join BridgeTEFL, the Chilean Ministry of Education, and the United Nations Development Program as an English teacher. You'll teach English to elementary or high school students, live with a host family, become a member of the community, and learn about a new culture.
  • English Teaching Assistantship fellowships through the Student Fulbright program.   Must have strong GPA’s (est. 3.5 ish) to apply.
  • EPIK-Teach and Learn in Korea.  Sponsored by the Korean Ministry of Education, Science and Technolgy.

  • North American Language and Culture Assistants in Spain: The Assistants receive a grant in Spain to provide support to the English or French teachers in language and culture classes. sponsored by The Embassy of Spain's Education Office in the United States and Canada.
  • Oxford Jobs-Oxford Seminars’ TESOL/TESL/TEFL Certification Course and over 20,000 jobs advertised monthly, there are always opportunities available to teach English as a Second Language.
