Position Purpose: To enable youth to belong, believe, grow and live in Christ through being part of a Christian community where individuals meet in a non-threatening atmosphere to grow on their faith journey. Outreach to others is built into the program. Youth ministry programs are open to all youth from grades 6-12.  Position Responsibilities: Lead or assist one Christian study/discussion group per week on a day, place and time that works for leaders and participants. Major emphasis will be on the study and discussion of the scriptures as they to everyday life. Scripture readings and discussions will build on the major themes of the Christian faith. Students will be challenged to read about God in scripture and then discuss ways they can serve God in their church and surrounding community.  Work with adult volunteers:  1. To organize and participate in at least one community service project per year. This could be a youth mission trip through the United Methodist Church or some other approved organization. 2. To organize and lead at least 2 youth fellowship events (like bowling, movies, baseball game, etc.) per quarter. One aimed at middle school youth and the other aimed toward high school youth.  3. To organize the following youth fundraising events during the year: Nov/Dec – Sell Wrapping Paper, March - Little Caesar’s Fundraiser, April and August – Serve Ruritan Dinners (Cook, set up Hall, clean up)  4. To devise an annual calendar listing events (this needs to be done with the pastor). The calendar will be sent to youth, their parents/guardians and the church office for inclusion in the newsletter, church calendar, website and bulletins.  Meet with pastor at least once a quarter to review how things are going in relation to the position purpose. Keep minutes of these meetings and place a copy in the Minute Book in the office.  Make sure Safe Sanctuaries guidelines and procedures are followed. The policy will be shared and updated as necessary.  Qualifications for position: • Must be at least 5 years older than the oldest student served in the ministry and over the age of 18. • Have a strong and heartfelt faith in God. • Be a member of Rockawalkin United Methodist Church (or show proof of membership in another church). • Have a heartfelt desire and call to serve youth both in the church and in the surrounding community. • Have a willingness to learn how to run the weekly Christian study/discussion group using a curriculum that will be determined with the pastor and Sunday School Superintendent. • Have a willingness to coordinate other youth ministry events in the church while working with volunteers. • Have a willingness to go through Safe Sanctuaries screening procedures and to follow them in carrying out the ministry goals and objectives. • Have a willingness to communicate with parents/guardians and pastor on a quarterly basis, or more if needed. Our 2009-2010 Budget has been set for a maximum of 6 hours a week at $10.00 per hour. This can always be more or less hours depending on the schedule for the week, but not to exceed 312 hours per year unless pre-approved.

Rockawalkin United Methodist Church. Nursery Attendant.  The Nursery worker must be 18 years or older. Experience programming Universal Remote Controls (URC, RTI, Pronto, etc.). Accomplished with Control, Automation and Phone Systems. (Elan, Xantech, Sonance, HAI, Panasonic). Proficient with Computers and Networking. Candidates must be able to pass a drug and criminal background screening and have a valid drivers license with a clean driving record, and dependable transportation. Physical Demands: The duties of the position require the ability to stand for long periods of time, bend, kneel, crawl, and climb ladders. Candidate must be capable of working at heights and have good balance. It will be required to frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Adverse conditions include frequent noise, dusty environments and occasional exposure to temperature extremes. H&R Block is interested in employing college students currently enrolled in business and/or accounting classes to become taxpros or receptionists for the upcoming tax season. Classes begin in August in the Salisbury/Fruitland offices for the taxpro positions. The class cost is $200 and a payment schedule may be arranged. Upon successfully completing this class and passing the exam, they could begin preparing returns by the first of next year. There are additional classes held in our office in Salisbury related to this position to give the new taxpro more hands-on-training and confidence. Each applicant must be 18 years of age by January 1st, 2009.  The receptionists are trained in our Salisbury office at no cost to the applicant.  I will be glad to send more information if requested.
