 A "TO DO" list for Organizing Your Job Search

Draft resume and have it reviewed in Career Services (GUC 133).  Print and save to a disk.  A resume booklet can be obtained at the Career Office.

Publish your resume to eRecruiting, SU’s database of employers.  This way, employers will be able to search your resume.
 
Write a basic cover letter.  Save it to a disc.  Career Services can review your letter for you.

Pick-up a booklet on Successful Interview Techniques in the Career office.

Attend a workshop on Interviewing sponsored by Career Services OR schedule a mock interview there. 

Obtain copies of the Job Choices magazine in the Career Office.

Research salaries for your targeted occupation and geographic area. 

Decide upon other web sites on which to post your resume. 

Bookmark websites of companies or professional organizations that you wish to monitor weekly for employment opportunities.  

Continuously monitor the Job Alerts distributed by Career Services. 

Search Mentor Network-A database of SU alums who have volunteered to assist current students in their career search, using eRecruiting. 

Cultivate your contacts.  Network with friend, parents, past employers, teachers to obtain job leads.

Attend Job Fairs.

Monitor Federal Job openings, a source of good employment currently.
