The Metropolitan Museum of Art various internships for college and graduate students interested in careers in art museums. Based upon their academic training and interests, as well as the availability of projects, interns work in one of the Metropolitan's departments—curatorial, education, conservation, administration, or library. Most projects require a strong knowledge of art history. Applicants of diverse backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

The Museum of Modern Art .The Museum’s internship program provides college juniors and seniors, recent graduates, graduate students, and beginning museum professionals with practical work experience and in-depth training in the museum profession. Working under the supervision of one of the Museum’s professional staff, interns contribute to timely projects, gain insight into the functions of individual departments, and learn about the Museum’s various collections, exhibitions, and programs for visitors. The Museum offers fall, spring, summer, and twelve-month internships. Fall and spring internships require a minimum commitment of two days per week (one day must be Tuesday) and are unpaid. Summer and twelve-month are full-time and provide a stipend.

Alexandria Archaeology Internship opportunities (unpaid) are available on a limited basis throughout the year, to students who will receive credit through their colleges.  Students usually come from departments of Anthropology, American Studies, Historic Preservation, History, Museum Studies and Museum Education.
Business Executives for National Security (BENS), Accepts interns from all backgrounds and degree programs. Strong writing and research skills are a must, as is an interest in national security issues.

Montshire Museum of Science-Prerequisites include an interest in science and a desire to work with people. Familiarity with natural and physical sciences, communications and education are useful.  The 15 week, full-time internship program is held during all seasons of the year.

Philadelphia Museum of Art-The Museum Studies Internship Program offers internships each summer to qualified students who have completed at least their sophomore year of college by the spring.
Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies (SCEMS)-The mission of the Smithsonian Center for Education and Museum Studies (SCEMS) is to interpret the collective knowledge of the Smithsonian and serve as a gateway to the Institution's education resources. Through research, publishing, and staff development programs for the education and museum communities, the Center promotes the understanding and use of museums.
The Washington Center for Internships-Full-time internships in DC for a semester or summer or quarter term. It is up to the intern's school to award academic credit. 
Washington Internship-Students select internships according to their areas of interest, such as government, the media and national institutions in a variety of fields. federal agencies, etc.

Americans for the Arts.  The Internship Program offers undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to investigate and participate in the operations of the nation’s leading nonprofit for advancing the arts in America. Internship positions are available on a part-time basis for the winter/spring and fall terms and on a full-time basis for summer. Fall and spring interns receive a meal and travel reimbursement, and summer interns receive a stipend.

Georgetown University Law Center-For anyone contemplating a career in law or criminal justice, this internship is an excellent opportunity.
Governor's Summer Internship Program and the Maryland Department of Transportation Fellows Internship Program.  The Shriver Center at UMBC.
