hands-on internship opportunity year round. Our interns have an opportunity
to apply what they have learned in their classrooms to real-life
public/investor relations campaigns. At KCSA, students work closely with a
designated team and are put on several accounts, which will train the
student to multitask and sharpen their internal/external communication
skills. Among some projects that the students will be involved with include
media/financial database development and maintenance, client administrative
support, assisting in writing, editing and distributing news releases and
pitch letters as well as making follow-up calls and scheduling client
interviews with media and members of the financial community. Requirements:
Must be a junior or senior going for an undergraduate degree OR a graduate
student. We require a set schedule for each intern, though we understand if
an intern must take off for exams. Interns have the option of working
anytime between Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. - 6 p.m. Please note: Most interns who
intern at 20 or more hours a week find the work more fulfilling (though it
is not required). Strong written and
verbal communications skills. Creative thinker and team player.

TWC
launches Public Service Journalism Initiative. The John S. and
James L. Knight Foundation has awarded a two-year grant to The Washington
Center to promote public service journalism in Washington, D.C. The goal of
the initiative is to expose students in journalism and mass communications
to career options in public or civic journalism, which offers communities
information directly and immediately relevant to people's daily lives. Over
the next two years, beginning this summer 2004 through the fall semester of
2005, 65 college students will be selected for $2,000 scholarships made
possible through the Knight Foundation grant. They will be exposed to the
public service journalism through internships at nonprofit journalism
outlets such as National Public Radio, the online NewsHour Extra, the Center
for Public Integrity and the International Women's Media Foundation. In
addition, TWC is organizing speaking events, lectures, and an academic
course around public service journalism. Candidates for the TWC public
service journalism scholarship must attend a college and university with
local public radio (NPR) or television licenses (PBS), with majors
in journalism, mass communications or other relevant field. Students

REHOBOTH
BEACH FILM SOCIETY (RBFS) at 102 Midway Village, Rehoboth Beach,
DE 19971. Intern hours: Monday - Friday, between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.-
each semester. Some evening or weekend hours may be required. The Society,
(established 1997, incorporated 2000) is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit
organization whose mission is to create understanding and appreciation of
film as an art form. RBFS strives to educate and enhance the public's
understanding of independent cinema with a careful, studied and authentic
eye toward representing diverse and international cultures, people, and
eras. In fulfilling its mission, the Film Society produces an annual
multi-day film festival as well as a variety of events throughout the year.

HARPER'S
MAGAZINE NEW YORK CITY: 12 UNPAID FULL-TIME EDITORIAL INTERNSHIPS
each year (four per term). Interns come to Harper's from a broad range of
backgrounds: many apply directly after college or graduate school; others
use the program as an introduction to publishing after having pursued
careers elsewhere. Prior work experience matters far less than how well an
intern knows Harper's and how much he or she has to contribute to the making
of the magazine each month. Each intern is assigned to assist particular
editors, while participating in the more general tasks shared by all
interns, such as researching the Harper's Index and reading unsolicited
manuscripts. The range of responsibilities and level of challenge depend
largely on initiative and self-motivation. Interns are always welcome to
suggest ideas, for instance, and to try to generate material for any section
of the magazine. Hours: 10-6 with an hour off for lunch. Some flexibility is
possible and can be discussed in individual cases. Unfortunately, unable to

CHINCOTEAGUE
NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE: INTERPRETATIVE INTERNSHIPS AT CHINCOTEAGUE
NATIONAL WILDLIFE REFUGE. SPRING, SUMMER , FALL
interpretive interns at the Refuge Visitor Center to develop and conduct
interpretive programs, and develop interpretive materials such as flyers,
fact sheets, and exhibits. These duties give you the opportunity to reach a
variety of people with the knowledge and appreciation of the environment and
the National Wildlife Refuge System. Pay is $100.00 for each week of the
internship and the rewards of making a difference are priceless. Applicants
should have a background in biology, wildlife management, recreation
education, interpretation, or related field. Applicants should have
