Use the information below as a general guide to help you resolve not only your questions about your major but also your questions about your upcoming career.  These resources will be very helpful to you when making your career choices each year while at SU.


ball  Get started early and start planning for your future!

ball  Visit the Career Counseling Center to learn about services, resources and workshops.

ball  Check out the Career Services website.

ball  Visit the Career Resource Library in Career Services.

ball  Start to explore various majors and get to know faculty.

ball  Join one or possibly two organizations where they can get involved and begin networking.

ball  Get the best grades you can.

ball  Attend the Career Fairs to network with employers.


ball  Identify interests, skills, and work values.

ball  Develop preliminary goals.

ball  Create an initial resume.

ball  Seek out summer jobs that are of interest.

ball  Begin to explore possible internship opportunities.

ball  Investigate study abroad experiences available to SU students.

ball  Attend the Career Fairs to network with employers.


ball  Become immersed in academic major.

ball  Revise resume; begin to create C.V. if considering grad school; visit our office for help.

ball  Secure an internship.

ball  Find ways to gain good experience: Volunteer and take on leadership roles in their activities.

ball  Investigate graduate school and/or career options for their major.

ball  Prepare for and schedule graduate school exams.

ball  Conduct research in the Career Services website on graduate schools, internships, or the job search process.

ball  Attend Networking Nights and use the Mentor Network.

ball  Finalize resume—-targeting appropriate job goal, or finalize C.V. for grad school.

ball  Attend the various events and workshops offered by Career Services.

ball  Conduct research on the Career Services website on employers and job search issues.

ball  Consider taking a 2-hour job/internship class offered by Career Services.

ball  View videos on the Career Services website on a variety of job search topics.

ball  Attend any alumni special events (including Homecoming-related events) in order to build a network.

ball  Create a timeline and plan for the graduate school application process or for transitioning.
