The Residential Coordinator serves as a liaison between full-time Upward Bound staff and Tutor Counselors. Residential Coordinators stay on campus and report directly to the full-time faculty. The Residential Coordinator exhibits leadership and encourages team work and a positive atmosphere in the dorms. They are responsible for dorm activities, discipline, team supervision and record keeping. The Residential Coordinator is to maintain the best possible group atmosphere. They coordinate and supervise all personnel aspects of the Tutor Counselors, including scheduling, team management and communication. They also assist in other areas where and when appropriate. They help develop and carry out student extracurricular activities and will help supervise students on field trips.
Responsibilities:
The following specifies the major responsibilities delegated to the Residential Coordinator:
Supervise and evaluate Tutor Counselors
Reside on campus during the week in order to provide live-in supervision of Tutor Counselors and students
Implement schedule for tutoring sessions, food service programs, recreational activities
Work with Tutor Counselors and full time staff members to ensure consistency in disciplinary actions for students.
Report to Program Director any successes, concerns, or existing problems.
Coordinate and supervise field days and other recreational activities
Submit daily report to Upward Bound full time staff
Submit weekly reports to parents
Hold daily formal meetings with Tutor Counselors to review schedule, exchange ideas, and discuss activities
Maintain safety and security of the dorm and its occupants

Job Description: Tutor Counselor
From June 18, 2012 through July 27, 2012, forty (40) college-bound high school students from Baltimore City Public High Schools will participate in an academic–intensive program on the campuses of Towson University and Baltimore City Community College. Tutor/counselors will work with certified instructors in academic areas and lead/supervise students during cultural, recreational and social activities. Tutor/counselors are responsible for students on a 24-hour basis from 7:00 am Mondays through 2:00 pm Fridays. Tutor counselors stay on campus with students and report directly to the Residential Coordinators as well as full-time staff.

Attends all required pre- and in-service training sessions and staff meetings
Reside on campus with students during the week in order to provide live-in supervision

Essential Job Functions. Additional Requirements. • Must complete mentor training session coordinated by JHSJP JHSJP College Mentors would primarily provide the additional mentoring/supervision and administrative support for the JHSJP program participants. Description: As an Arbitrage staff writer, your position will entail working closely with the various Arbitrage divisions to bring together all elements needed for a successful magazine. Most work will be done individually, with a few physical meetings carried out over the course of the year. In all, the Arbitrage team is looking for staff writers to produce quality articles covering a wide range of topics for the Arbitrage magazine and its website. In all, ANYTHING can be written about, as long as it has a business angle to it. This will require a great deal of research skills, excellent knowledge of the English language, and creative and critical thinking. *This is a part-time, volunteer position that will become part-time paid upon the publication turning a profit. Accordingly, only serious applicants need apply.
RESPONSIBILITIES: • Producing articles based on personal or public interest, or as requested by the Arbitrage editing staff. • Ability to interview subject matter experts to comment on the subject matter of your article and the willingness to learn how to land such interviews. • Interview professors, speakers, authors, celebrities, musicians, etc. about business related subject matter and current events. • Conducting extensive research to discover topics that are factual and original by using as many resources as possible. • During the final stages of writing, being able to receive constructive feedback and revising work accordingly. • Present material for the magazine in the required format. • Creating goals and deadlines for one self to help with organization and accomplishment of work.
REQUIRED SKILLS:• Ability to work produce quality articles within tight timeframes and simultaneously manage several projects. • Highly organized, committed and with an ability to multi-task and meet deadlines. • Critical and creative thinker able to come up with a number of quality ideas for new articles and how to approach writing them. • A high level of skill using the English language (spelling, punctuation, grammar, rules of composition, etc). • A clear, entertaining and clever style of writing. Specifically, being able to write in ways that are appropriate for the Arbitrage's target audience of university/college educated 20-30 somethings. • Ability to do extensive research by using a variety of sources to obtain information on a selection of topics. • Ability to reason and problem solve.
