Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach

Edward Smith, CSCS

Ed is a Church Hill, TN native in his second year as a graduate student working with the Salisbury Strength & Conditioning program. Ed is studying to earn his MS in Applied Health Physiology with a focus in Strength & Conditioning. He is an alumnus of Emory and Henry College (D3, SW VA) where he received his undergraduate degree, a BS in Athletic Training in Dec 2011.

Ed began his time at SU as a paid intern in fall 2012, working mainly with the varsity football team. He most recently spent a summer interning at Athletes’ Performance in Frisco, TX. While at Athletes’ Performance he assisted the staff working with elite level high school athletes, college athletes, NFL veterans, pro soccer players, and Olympic athletes. Ed will be coordinating and implementing our year round strength programs for the freshmen football players, women’s soccer team, and volleyball team.

While at Emory & Henry, Ed was a 4 year letter winner playing OLB. During that time he was a two time All-ODAC (2009 & 2011) performer and was also named ODAC player of the week one time (2008). One interesting fact about Ed, he is an avid NASCAR fan (Tony Stewart).
