Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach
Andy Deck, USAW
In his third year as an
assistant within the Salisbury
University Strength
& Conditioning Program, Andy is studying to earn his MS in Applied Health
Physiology with a concentration in Strength & Conditioning. He received his
undergraduate degree from Virginia Tech where he interned with the S&C
department. He also works for Elite FTS as a contributor to the Q&A and
Training Logs sections of their website.
Andy puts his knowledge and skill to practical use as a lightweight
professional strongman with the American Strongman Corporation and also
serves as the Maryland State Chairman for North American Strongman, Inc. He
has competed all over the country and was invited to the Natural Team World
Championships in Hungary in July 2010 where he and his teammate placed 3rd
in the world. He has been competing for 4 years with more than 20
competitions under his belt and only three finishes outside of the top
three. Some of his other more notable achievements in his sport are
back-to-back wins at Maryland’s Strongest Man in 2007 and 2008, a 3rd
place finish at amateur nationals in 2009, and a 3rd place finish
at pro nationals in 2010.
