Matthew Nein, MS, CSCS*D

|
In his sixth
year as the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator of Salisbury
University, Matt looks to continue the progress of the strength &
conditioning program with the concepts of reducing the student athlete
risk of injury while enhancing player performance. Matt's
responsibilities include the coordination of all 21 teams' training
programs, speed and agility sessions, facility and equipment
maintenance, and internship supervision.
Matt came to
Salisbury University following a one year stint as a strength coach in
the minor league system of the Toronto Blue Jays. He received his
Masters Degree in Applied Health Physiology from Salisbury University
in 2004 and his Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from Towson
University in 2002. While at Towson University, Matt pitched for the
Tigers Baseball Team for five seasons and served as a captain in his
final year with the squad. Since 2004 Matt is certified as a
Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist
(CSCS) with Distinction and a Registered Strength &
Conditioning Coach by the National Strength
and Conditioning Association (NSCA). Matt also
holds the certification of SPARQ National Trainer.
While not training athletes, Matt
manages all indoor recreational facilities and
fitness programming and serves as
an Adjunct Instructor in the Exercise Science
and Applied Health Physiology Departments at Salisbury
University. He
currently lives in Delmar, MD with his
wife, Jennifer (Abbatiello) - '02, '05 and their
daughter Elodie Nein.

Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach
Lou Lombardo, CSCS
In his second year as a Graduate Assistant to the Strength and Conditioning
Program, Lou is studying in the Applied Health Physiology Program with a
concentration in Strength and Conditioning. Lou received his second
undergraduate degree at Salisbury University with a BS in Exercise Science.
Prior to coming to Salisbury, Lou was a four year letter winner at the
University of Maryland at College Park where he played football and earned
his first undergraduate degree with a BA in Criminal Justice and
Criminology. Following Maryland, Lou had a short stint with the Indianapolis
Colts before returning to his high school alma mater Calvert Hall College
and taking over as head of Strength and Conditioning for football and Track.
As an undergraduate at
Salisbury University, Lou served as a full time intern
within the program. Lou is a
Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National
Strength & Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is current with all adult
CPR/AED and first aid basics. He is originally from Baltimore, MD and now
resides in Ocean Pines, MD with his fiancé Keri Lounge, also a University
Maryland graduate and four year letter winner in softball.

Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach
Mike Hedlesky, CSCS
In his first year as a
Graduate Assistant to the Strength and Conditioning Program, Mike is
studying in the Applied Health Physiology Program with a concentration in
Strength and Conditioning. Mike received his undergraduate degree at
Salisbury University with a BS in Exercise Science. During his undergraduate
career, Mike Played football for Salisbury University from 2003 to 2007. He
was voted a co-captain his senior year and won the teams annual
“Lift-a-Thon” fundraiser 2 years in a row. Mike satisfied his required
undergraduate internship with the Salisbury University Strength and
Conditioning Program in the Fall of 2007.
Mike is a Certified Strength
& Conditioning Specialist (CSCS) through the National Strength &
Conditioning Association (NSCA) and is current with all adult CPR/AED and
first aid basics. He is also a strength sports enthusiast. Mike is the 10th
ranked Powerlifter in the 275 pound weight class in the USA Powerlifting
Federation. He also holds the junior American deadlift record of 755 pounds.
He currently resides in Ocean City, MD.

Graduate Assistant Facilities/Strength & Conditioning
Eric Barron, CSCS
Eric, a second year Facilities/Strength
Graduate Assistant, currently posses a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science
from Salisbury University and his Certified Strength and Conditioning
Specialist (CSCS) certification through the National Strength and
Conditioning Association (NSCA). While pursuing his bachelors degree, Eric
gained valuable experience with a three month internship at NSCA’s National
Headquarters in Colorado Springs, Colorado. There, he worked with a wide
range of athletes and strength & conditioning coaches and gained valuable
knowledge to become successful in this field. As a graduate assistant, he
will continue his education at Salisbury University in the Applied
Health Physiology Graduate Program, with a concentration in Strength &
Conditioning. Eric will spend most of GA time managing the facilities while
assisting in the weight room when possible. When not at the university, Eric
can be found personal training at Olympia Fitness Clubs of Salisbury, MD.

Ryan Maedel, CSCS
Ryan is
studying in the Applied Health Physiology
Program with a concentration
in Strength and Conditioning. He has received his undergraduate
degree at Southern Wesleyan University in South Carolina with BS in
Recreation. While at Southern Wesleyan,
Ryan caught as a member of the
Warriors Varsity Baseball Team. Ryan has participated
in sports all his life and now looks to encourage athletes to excel
both on the field and in the weight room all while
helping to decrease the
risk of injury.
Ryan has
completed internships in the Strength
& Conditioning field at
Clemson, Richmond and Southern Wesleyan University. Ryan
is a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist
(CSCS) through the National
Strength & Conditioning
Association (NSCA) and is current with all
adult CPR/AED and first aid basics. He is originally
from Cottam Ontario, Canada and enjoys the outdoors.
