Strength & Conditioning Coordinator

Matthew Nein, MS, CSCS

In his fourth year as the Strength & Conditioning Coordinator of Salisbury University, Matt looks to continue the progress of the strength & conditioning program with the concepts of reducing the student athlete risk of injury while enhancing player performance.  Matt's responsibilities include coordinating of all 21 teams training programs, speed and agility sessions, facility and equipment maintenance, and internship supervision. 

Matt came to Salisbury University following a one year stint as a strength coach in the minor league system of the Toronto Blue Jays.  He received his Masters Degree in Applied Health Physiology from Salisbury University in 2004 and his Bachelors Degree in Physical Education from Towson University in 2002.  While at Towson University, Matt pitched for the Tigers Baseball Team for five seasons and served as a captain in his final year with the squad.  Since 2004 Matt has been certified as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association  and a Registered Strength & Conditioning Coach since 2006. Recently Matt has also attained a certification as a SPARQ National Trainer.  Matt also serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Exercise Science Department at Salisbury University and  currently lives in Delmar, MD with his wife, Jennifer (Abbatiello) Nein - '02, '05.

Graduate Assistant Strength & Conditioning Coach

Mike Zourdos, CSCS

Mike, a second year Graduate Assistant, spends a majority of his time implementing program goals while working hands on with the athletes.  Along side of the program goals, Mike is looking to reduce injury risk while enhance athletic performance during each training session.  Mike also serves as the internship liaison. Here he works with and develops each intern with the idea of helping them progress their goals to one day become a strength & conditioning coach.

Mike came to Salisbury University after graduating in three and half years from Marietta College in December of 2006.  At Marietta, Mike received a Bachelors of Science degree in Exercise Science with a minor in Sports Management.  During this time, Mike lettered in soccer for four seasons, was a three year starter, and two year captain.  Here at Salisbury University, Mike is pursuing his Masters Degree in Applied Health Physiology with a concentration in Strength & Conditioning.  While Mike is not in school, he works with and trains many high school and college athletes in his home town of Potomac, MD.  Recently, Mike has become certified as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association.
