FISCAL ADVISORY Fiscal Advisory Committee Notes March 3, 2006 Present: Becky Emery, Charlotte Rayne, Bob Long, Tim Dunn, Kevin Dallaire, Janet Horne, Jerry DeRidder (for Memo Diriker), Jo Laird, Greig Mitchell The notes from the February 11, 2006 with the addition of a statement concerning prioritizing funding based on scenarios of different dollar amounts. The amount available for supplemental funding is not available yet. We should have some founds, but there are too many variables to have a final answer today. The Middle States Standards related to fiscal affairs were distributed. Members of the Fiscal Advisory Committee have been invited to meet with members of the Middle States site visit team. The self study document is on the web, and a great deal of information is available in the appendices which are also on the web. The team will be asking questions, and it may be a good idea to review the information submitted in the self study document. The faculty senate is forming a new committee to deal with fiscal issues related to faculty. A few questions were posed about the supplemental funding requests. The Glacier software requested by Student Affairs is related to alien students. It was stressed that any funding should be for one time, nonrecurring items. Also, the Salisbury University Foundation is not able to help fund these requests. The items submitted for funding would fit in one of the four strategic planning goals. On behalf of the students, Kevin Dallaire asked about the Safe Ride van situation. Evidently, they are not in the best condition. Unfortunately, funding for the vans must first be examined by the SGA and student activities funding, as the Safe Ride program is not part of the stat funded budget. The University will try, however, to assist as it can. Although the final funding amount is not available, the members were asked to compile a list of their priorities based on a balllpark figure of $500,000. There is no guarantee that this amount will be available, but it will allow us to work on our own. Members should send their lists to Jo. Jo and Alan will compile the recommendations prior to the next meeting. The next meeting of the committee will be conducted on March 31, 2006 at 10:00 AM. (Note, this meeting was cancelled and rescheduled for April 21, 2006 after Program Planning.)
