2013 Fall CADR 302-001 LEC CROSS-CULTURAL CONFL A & I Culture and its impact on the interactions of individuals and groups is the core concern of this course. The norms, roles, values, beliefs and traditions of various ethnic and racial groups are primordial to an understanding of why there is conflict among groups. This class emphasizes cultural awareness as a means of more fully understanding the dynamics of controversies among different groups and examines a variety of “rational” systems, belief and value structures that directly clash with those of neighboring groups. Three hours per week with enhancement. 
2013 Fall CADR 321-010 LEC RESEARCH METHODS Introduction to qualitative and quantitative social research methods. Emphasis on research design, question formulation, sampling techniques, hypothesis testing, data analysis, computer processing and practical research activity. Cross-listed with SOCI 321. May not receive credit for both CADR 321 and SOCI 321. Three one-hour lectures, one two-hour laboratory per week. 
2013 Fall CADR 321-011 LAB RESEARCH METHODS Introduction to qualitative and quantitative social research methods. 2013 Fall CADR 405-001 LEC SPECIAL TOPICS Presents communication and problem solving theories relevant to conflict analysis and intervention. Focuses primarily on the human and emotional aspects of conflict and is highly pragmatic in nature focusing on communication and conflict resolution skills and models in a practice-based approach. May be taken twice under different subtitles. Prerequisites: CADR 200. Three hours per week with enhancement.
