This website is a cooperative effort between eight Eastern Shore of Maryland public school systems and Salisbury University. The site (established 2006) is part of a federal Title II grant to improve the competency and content knowledge of teachers of elementary and middle school science. As part of the training, this website has been established to act as a depository and resource for the participating teachers and all interested parties. Principally the site will post lesson plans, written in a constructivist mode, that are geared toward the Maryland voluntary curriculum for science. Links to the state voluntary curricula can be found here: mdk12.org/mspp/vsc/index.html Other uses of the site are to post messages and conduct grant related business on the web for the members (requires password to enter this portion of the website). Occasionally the site will host photos from participants as they conduct science classes, science nights and explore the science that is found all around them. Deciphering the lesson code: Each of the lessons are given a number that corresponds as follows:
5.6.D.1.c First number refers to content (physics here) Second number refers to grade level of mastery (6th grade here) First letter refers to topic in content (wave interaction here) Third number refers to objective in topic relationship of property of a wave) Second letter refers to indicator in objective (here relationship between frequency Finally here is a quick users guide to the content areas
