SU’s Road to the Quarterfinals
Salisbury earned its first NCAA Tournament berth by winning the championship of the Capital Athletic Conference and claiming the CAC’s automatic bid. Following a first round bye, the Sea Gulls opened play in the tournament with a 2-1 overtime win over Lynchburg. Freshman Kathleen Tiedemann tallied the game-winning goal in that contest with 9:05 remaining in the second overtime (121st minute). SU had tied the game in the 75th minute on sophomore Erica Szoc’s eighth goal of the season.  SU then blanked Villa Julie 2-0 in Sunday’s regional final, with senior goalie Amy Forbes registering her 10th shutout of the season and 42nd of her career.  Sophomore Elena Ferranti and junior Meredith Bigham tallied goals in that game.

Record-Setting Campaign Continues
The Sea Gulls have established numerous team and individual records this season, including most wins, longest unbeaten streak, most goals scored in a season (97) and game (13), and most assists (67). Individually, junior Joy Mulholland has set a new record for season assists (11), while senior goalie Amy Forbes has increased her career shutout record to 42.  Salisbury is the only undefeated team in the tournament and brings a school-record 11-game winning streak into Saturday’s game.  In addition, SU’s 22-game unbeaten streak is the longest in the nation this year and the eighth longest in NCAA Division III women’s soccer history.
