Sea Gulls win fourth straight, rout Goucher, 11-0
BALTIMORE
The Salisbury University women’s soccer team won its fourth straight game Saturday afternoon, blanking Goucher, 11-0. The Sea Gulls (7-5-1, CAC 5-2) had eight different players score goals including a first half hat trick by Kate Weaver.

Salisbury jumped out early on Goucher (2-11-1, CAC 0-6), scoring seven first half goals. The first goal came at the 2:54 mark as Ally Olewine scored off a pass from Kelli Salter.

It didn’t take long for the Sea Gulls to find the net again as Robyn Bishop scored at the 11:09 mark off a feed from Sara Schmidt to put the Gulls up 2-0. Just over three minutes later, Schmidt scored her first of two goals off an assist from Salter.

The next three Sea Gull goals were scored by Weaver, who netted scoring strikes at the 28:31, 40:09 and 42:25.  Meghan Mabey assisted the first Weaver goal and Schmidt the third. Two minutes after her third goal, Weaver returned the favor, setting up Schmidt at the 44:38 mark to take a 7-0 lead into intermission.

The onslaught continued in the second half, as Erin Casey, Erin Rudy and Sam Asch scored off feeds from Christina Eury, Amanda Pizzillo and Jules Vendola, respectively.

The goalie combination of Samantha Phipps and Gena Goodson made three saves for the Sea Gulls while Goucher goalie Bri Girard stopped 15 Salisbury scoring attempts.

Salisbury dominated Goucher in shots, 37-5, and had five more corner kicks, 6-1.

The Sea Gulls return to action on Wednesday, October 25, as they travel to Newport News, Va. to face out of conference opponent Christopher Newport. That is the final regular season game before the Capital Athletic Conference tournament begins on October 28.
