Martin, Argue Receive All-CAC Women's Soccer Recognition
Nov. 10, 2004

Conference championship runner-up Salisbury University placed two players on the All-Capital Athletic Conference women's soccer team, released Wednesday. Junior back Ashley Martin (Bowie, MD/Spalding HS) was named to the 11-player first team, while senior midfielder Leanne Argue (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee HS) received second team honors.

Martin was part of a defense that registered a school-record 14 shutouts in 2004, including nine straight shutouts to end the season. She helped the Sea Gulls post a 0.67 goals against average. Argue, a team captain, also contributed on the defense end while adding one goal on 32 shots offensively.

Salisbury finished with a final 10-6-4 record in 2004. The Sea Gulls battled to a 0-0 tie against Mary Washington in the conference championship game before losing the title on penalty kicks, 3-1. Since the championship game is officially recorded as a tie, the Sea Gulls carry a nine-match unbeaten streak into the 2005 season opener.
