SU takes No. 10 Virginia Wesleyan into double overtime
SALISBURY, Md. -
The Salisbury University women's soccer team took No. 10 Virginia Wesleyan College into double overtime on Wednesday afternoon and came away with a 1-1 draw.

Salisbury (3-0-1) trailed 1-0 with nine minutes left in regulation when junior Dana Passucci took senior Kate Weaver's pass and booted in the game-tying goal. The Passucci goal was her second of the season. Weaver added to her team-high point total (11) with her third assist of the season at the 81st minute.

The two teams went scoreless through the first half and remained that way until Virginia Wesleyan sophomore Stacy Zeiler scored an unassisted goal at the 54th minute of the match.

The Marlins outshot the Sea Gulls 16-7 and took three corner kicks to SU's one attempt. Sea Gull goalie Gena Goodson made four saves in net for the maroon and gold while her counterpart Lindsey Williams made four stops on her own in 110 minutes of play.

The Marlins entered the game with a two-game winning streak over the Gulls who played to a 0-0 overtime tie against VWC back in 2004 on the road.

SU is now off until Tuesday, September 18, when the Sea Gulls travel up Route 13 to face Wesley College for a 7 p.m. night game. The Wesley game will kick-off the Capital Athletic Conference schedule for the Sea Gulls.
