Salisbury's season in NCAA first round Eastern (19-3) got on the board quick as Jill DiRenzo scored two minutes into the match at the 2:13 mark off an assist from Chrissy West. DiRenzo's shot beat SU junior goalie Gena Goodson (seven saves) which held up to be the game-winner. The Eagles, in their first-ever NCAA tournament appearance, outshot the Sea Gulls 14-8. Both teams had two corner kicks apiece in the first half. Salisbury's best chances to score came from junior Dana Passucci who ripped off three shots, two on goal, but could not find the net for the Sea Gulls. Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Year and team goal leader Kate Weaver failed to get a shot off in her final game as a Sea Gull. Eastern, the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference champions, advance to face TCNJ in Sunday's second round game. The Lions defeated Farmingdale State, 7-0, in the other first round game in Ewing, N.J. Salisbury, the CAC runners up, concludes its best season since 2001 when the Sea Gulls went 14-2-3. This was the third appearance in the NCAA tournament for the Sea Gulls since the program began in 1994.
