No. 1 seed for CAC tournament
ST. MARY'S CITY, Md. –
The Salisbury
University women's soccer team earned the No. 1 seed in the 2007 Capital Athletic
Conference tournament and will face Marymount (Va.) on Sunday, October 28. Game
time is 1 p.m. at the SU Soccer Complex.
Salisbury (12-2-1, 7-1 CAC), the reigning CAC tournament champions, cruised
through all three playoffs games last year as they defeated their opponents by a
combined score of 7-0. The Sea Gulls have won three CAC titles (1994, 2000,
2006) in the program's history.
This is the second consecutive year that Salisbury will open the tournament
against the Saints (6-9-1, 1-6-1 CAC). In last year's quarterfinal matchup the
Sea Gulls won 1-0.
The maroon and gold beat Marymount 2-0 earlier this year and have won all 18
games in the program's series.
York (Pa.) College earned the No. 2 seed and they will host No. 7 seed Villa
Julie College while No. 3 seed University of Mary Washington will host No. 6
seed Hood College. The winner of the Salisbury-Marymount game will take on the
winner between No. 4 seed St. Mary's (Md.) College and No. 5 seed Wesley
College.
All quarterfinal games are scheduled to be played on Sunday, October 28. The
semifinals will take place on Wednesday, October 31 with the championship on
Saturday, November 3.
