Late run sinks Sea Gulls in loss to Spartans
YORK, Pa. –
The York College (Pa.) Spartans evened the season series with the Salisbury University women’s basketball team on Saturday afternoon with a, 73-59, Capital Athletic Conference win.

The Sea Gulls (10-8, 4-4 CAC) had only two players score in double-figures as they were led by junior Meghan Phillips who totaled 14 points and grabbed seven rebounds while sophomore Marissa Manzo came off the bench to score 10 points.

Salisbury trailed York (13-6, 7-2 CAC) by three points at the intermission, 30-27, despite holding an eight-point, 23-15, lead with 10 minutes left in the half.

The Sea Gulls grabbed an early second half lead at 31-30 after Lindsey Martin (6 points) laid home a two-point score but the Spartans quickly erased the lead after Amy Fry (12 points) hit a two-point bucket. The Sea Gulls never led again.

Salisbury got as close as three points, 60-57, with three and a half minutes remaining in the game but York closed the game on a 13-2 run to hand the Sea Gulls their third loss in their last four games.

The Sea Gulls shot 29 percent as a team while the Spartans shot 41 percent.

York was led Kristen Daly who scored a game-high 23 points.

Salisbury returns to action on Wednesday, January 31, as they host Capital Athletic Conference opponent Goucher College at 5:30 p.m. The Sea Gulls defeated the Gophers, 76-62, on December 6.
